The Office of Communication for the Millennium
Development Goals announces an Emergency Session for the Millennium Development
Goals Summit. The meeting is to be held on Monday, February 16th,
2015. The goal of the meeting is to fast track 3 of the 8 MDGs (as decided in
2000). It is the position of the Summit that the state of the world--environmentally,
politically, economically, and socially—requires fast action. The Summit
believes that decided and acting upon the 3 most important goals is the only
route to effective action.

- To achieve universal primary
education
- To promote gender equality and
empower women
- To reduce child mortality
- To improve maternal health
- To combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and
other diseases
- To ensure environmental sustainability
- To develop a global partnership for development
